Surfing Zen Master. Aug 1983
Surfing Zen Master is an example of “evolving design.” I recommend you see the description of the category of “Evolving Design” to gain an appreciation of the process. The work depicts what I call a Zen Master surfing upon a wave, he is a master and therefore effortlessly
surfs using his feet alone and balance. Perhaps you would be more comfortable with the wave being a metaphor for life, so now you have a Zen Master surfing effortlessly the wave of life. The figure is one of the cleanest I have ever drawn and had a life all its own from the get go. He is surfing with his right leg forward and his left leg back and the arms echo the legs extended forward and back for balance. I think the figure is simple and elegant, I can say that in humility because I am not taking the credit, I am after all a partner in the collaboration of the piece. See my “About the Artist” section for a fuller explanation of what I am talking about. The spoiler alert is, I believe I partner with source to create the works I call “Evolving Design.”
Surfing Zen Master is available as a metal giclée print and a fine art paper print. The metal giclée print is bonded to aluminum, with a hanging system attached to the back.
