Pondering Knight. April 1974
Pondering Knight is an old friend, made when I was 19, living with my mother in Dallas, prior to going to UT Austin. It is done with a blue ball point pen on a beige sheet of Bristol paper.
It is of a knight, he is standing with his back to us, gazing out to the left. He has a helmet on with a very elaborate headdress to the front and with an upturned flare in back. You can make out an epilate on the edge of his left shoulder, perhaps some kind of rank. His hands are on his hips which is below the bottom of the drawing – implied but out of view. There are faces throughout his cloak, including the figure represented on the front piece of his headdress.
The knight has an expression of looking at something with focus and thinking, hence the “Pondering Knight.”
Pondering Knight is available as a metal giclée print and a fine art paper print. The metal giclée print is bonded to aluminum, with a hanging system attached to the back. The print surface is covered with a cleanable, scratch resist, polycarbonate film. Simply unpack and hang on your wall. The Fine art prints have a 1/2″ inch border on all sides and are an excellent choice if you are framing. Printed on 100% cotton, bright white, smooth texture, museum quality – 300 gsm bright White stock.
